This is the tale of the origin of Lake Toba and Samosir Island, a folk tale originating from North Sumatra.

In ancient times in a village in North Sumatra, there lived a farmer named Toba who was alone in a sloping and fertile valley.

.the farmer worked on his farm for his subsistence needs. Apart from working on his farm, the man sometimes went fishing to the river which was not far from his house.

Every time he fished, it was easy for him to get fish because there were lots of fish in the clear river. .the fish he catches he cooks to eat.

One afternoon, after returning from the fields the man went straight to the river to fish.

But it's been quite a long time he did not get a fish fishing.

Something like this has never happened before..because usually the fish in the river are easy for him to catch.

Because it had been too long since no one had taken his fishing bait, he got annoyed and decided to just stop fishing.

.but when he was about to pull the fishing line, suddenly the fishing rod was grabbed by a fish which immediately pulled the fishing rod far into the middle of the river.

His heart that had been annoyed earlier turned into a happy one. Because he knew that the fish that grabbed his fishing line was a big fish..after a while he let his line be pulled to and fro, then he jerked it, and he saw a big fish hanging and floundering at the end of his fishing line.

He quickly pulled the fish ashore so it wouldn't escape.

.while smiling happily he released his fishing rod from the fish's mouth.

When he was releasing the hook, the fish looked at it meaningfully. Then, after the fish was placed in one place, he entered the river to bathe.
